CHITIPA UNITED ON FIRE

               A humble beginning

Chitipa United formerly Savenda Chitipa United made their debut season in the Malawi`s elite league in 2016 after finishing top in SIMAMA, a  northern region division league.

However, the then Savenda Chitipa United was relegated in the same year and returned to the division league.

The Lions of Fort Hill made a second return into the elite league  in 2019 and stayed in the league until they faced another relegation in 2021.

After facing relegation in 2021, Chitipa United has for the first time made a spectacular return with an impressive first round performance in this year`s TNM Super League edition.

Chitipa is third on the TNM super league log table with 36 points tying  with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers  on points but the Lali Lubani side lead on goal difference. The defending champions, Nyasa Big Bullets lead the race with 37 points from 18 games.

In the 19 games played, Chitipa United has won 11 times, drawing thrice and suffering defeat five times.

TNM super league log table standings as of 30th August, 2023

The roaring Lions of Fort Hill have beaten the odds by making an extraordinary stat against the arguably big teams in the league.

The Lions defeated the TNM super league title defenders, Nyasa Big Bullets by a goal to nil, defeated Mark Harrison`s Mighty Mukuru Wanderers by a goal to nil as well and a 0-0 state of affair with the current league leaders, Silver Strikers.

Chitipa also has all rights to boast in karonga after thrashing rivals, Karonga United by 2 goals to zero in the Karonga derby in their first match of the just started second round.

What should we expect?

Despite lacking a sponsor, the future for the Lions of Fort Hill looks so promising as they will strive to fight lungs out to maintain or improve their current league standings on the leaderboard.
