MUBAS MANAGEMENT FACES SCRUTINY OVER UNANNOUNCED TUITION FEE HIKE

Students at The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) are questioning the Management of the institution on why it is failing to announce the upward adjustment in tuition fees. According to the students, it is a surprise to learn about the hike through a loan beneficiaries list released by Higher Education Students' Loans and Grants Board (HESLGB) while the University is silent. The loan beneficiaries list released indicates that tuition fee for The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences has been hiked from k400 thousand to k650 thousand per year.   While crime rate is increasing among the youth due to lack of unemployment, a 32-year-old in Manja, Blantyre is earning a living through quarry mining using local tools and equipment. Joseph Phiri, a married man with three children started quarry Mining way back in 2012 after several unsuccessful Job interviews with Security companies around Blantyre.
