A humble beginning Chitipa United formerly Savenda Chitipa United made their debut season in the Malawi`s elite league in 2016 after finishing top in SIMAMA, a  northern region division league. However, the then Savenda Chitipa United was relegated in the same year and returned to the division league. The Lions of Fort Hill made a second return into the elite league   in 2019 and stayed in the league until they faced another relegation in 2021.   Chitipa United now After facing relegation in 2021, Chitipa United has for the first time made a spectacular return with an impressive first round performance in this year`s TNM Super League edition.
